I’ve been using a pure olive oil soap from Turkey for many years. Unfortunately, the costs of the soap and the shipping are starting to hit ridiculous highs, so I decided to find a cheaper alternative and ordered this. Big disappointment. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m just used to the handmade soap from Turkey or what, but the smell of this soap is repulsive.
As some others here have said, the soap does feel rather slimy on your skin. It’s not oily, though, and it washes away easily.

But the smell! I just don’t get it. The Turkish soaps I love have three ingredients… the same three in this soap. I don’t quite understand why there would be such major differences. You can certainly smell the olive oil in there, but there’s a stronger, almost chemical smell that overwhelms it and makes me feel nauseous.
As the only ingredient in the soap that should have a scent is the olive oil, the bar should smell like olive oil. I’m thinking that they either used the worst quality olive oil they could get, or that there are more ingredients than they admit.
Others might like the soap and find the aroma wonderful, but this is definitely one of those instances when you want to try to get your hands on just a single bar to make sure you’ll like it so you don’t get stuck with eight bars you can’t stand. And it’s a long time unti stocking stuffing season.

When I opened the package and looked at the bar I was skeptical but I tried it and liked it. Cleans well and does not leave a soapy film like a lot of commercial soaps do. Don’t expect a lot of lather but you get used to that quick when you finish and feel clean for a change.
